Everything works…… – I had an Acer Spin 13 and got the Acer Spin 713. So, I’ll take the first question. Was it worth it? Probably not for me because I live in Mexico and paid shipping and taxes but like most of us I’m spending a lot of time at home and I wanted it. I’d read all the reviews of the Spin 713 I could find and watched all the YouTube videos. None of the “weaknesses” of the Spin 713 are there for me. The speakers aren’t concert hall quality but I can hear them well enough and when I’m home I send the audio through my Google Home Mini, anyway. That and I’m legally deaf. One reviewer talked about the screen “sagging” and I think he meant when he picked up the laptop by the screen. I have never done that, still haven’t done that, and the screen is fine. For me, the keyboard on the Spin 713 is noticeably better than on the Spin 13 and I got along with the Spin 13 fine. The 713 is finer. I also like the larger trackpad although I’m not a trackpad fanatic. The Spin 713 fits on my laptop stand better than the Spin 13. I can open and close it without moving it back off the bumpers. I mentioned I’m legally deaf so I’ve never heard the fans but some of the reviewers who can hear said they didn’t hear them either. The screen is, as far as I can tell, the same as on the Spin 13 and I think it’s great. I do prefer the 3:2 configuration. I’ll write more next later when I used it more.

New product might be a refurb – I think the device I received might’ve been a refurb rather than the new device I paid for on Amazon. I bought the chromebook in Feb 2021. The chroebook worked fine for a while. I wouldn’t say I was overly impressed with this device. But it wasn’t bad either, I just felt it was a standard chromebook. Then one day this month (Dec 2022) when I was working on the device the screen started flickering really badly and then stopped working properly. It developed this weird ghosting effect with repetitive lines running through it. While images still showed up on the device monitor, they were heavily distorted so I wasn’t able to work on it. I plugged the chromebook into a computer monitor I had using the hdmi connection. And the issues with the screen weren’t present, meaning I knew it probably wasn’t something wrong with say the graphics card, there was something wrong with the screen. I called customer support. And they told me my device was outside of warranty. However after further questioning I learned that their records stated my device was purchased in August of 2020. I purchased my device- what I thought and was told was a new device- in February of 2021 on Amazon. Ultimately I decided not to use their service for repairs. My husband and I debated whether or not to go to someone locally or not. He decided that he could probably repair it himself (as he’s built computers in the past) before trying one of those options. He was able to repair the monitor simply by replacing it. However when he did he noticed that the monitor had a upc barcode sticker on it that didn’t match the manufacturers and there was handwritten sharpie on the monitor. We both knew from our own experience in the tech fields that that generally doesn’t happen unless a repair has been made prior and/or something was replaced. Obviously I have no hard factual evidence here. But it seems like I got ripped off when I bought this device.

LOVE IT.. But the speakers are awful – After a bunch of research, I bought this because I wanted a Chromebook with 8GB Ram and touchscreen to have great experience in my man-cave. It has surpassed most of my expectations. However, it has different functionality from our other (three) Chromebooks, where I have to decide if I want the app to run as Phone, Tablet, or “resizable”. This has made a few apps VERY difficult as they don’t like to run in phone mode on a Chromebook.
