The Chromebook Evolved (almost) – I purchased the C434 very near first availability date on Amazon after highly anticipating it’s arrival. I’ve always been a fan of Chromebooks and anxiously anticipated upgrading to this work of art (and it really is beautiful). The build quality is excellent. The screen is amazing with those wonderful little bezels. The screen is bright and responsive and is a joy to look at and interact with in almost every respect. The computer screams quality. All of that said, after about three weeks with the C434, I decided to return it and ended up purchasing the HP X360. Here are my reasons.

– The chromebook sucks. Getting one error after other while trying to use youtube and netflix apps. Tried to powerwash the device couple of times and reinstalling the apps again and again. Tried talking to the netflix customer care but no solution found. Though the build quality and the device seems nice, ChromeOS sucks

ASUS did give me full warranty! – I like my chrome book but I was very surprised to find that I do not get the full warranty time period. I had trouble with getting it registered correctly and it showed no warranty at time of registration, just few days after receiving it. After contacting chat support and sending verification of my purchase and dates, I was told my order was not through an authorized dealer, that it was an opened box chrome book and I will not get full warranty. I went back to Amazon to double check, the information does not say that it is an opened box unit, says “new”, it says nothing about less warranty. I don’t understand, I don’t know who is right ASUS or Amazon description, I just wish I had been aware. For future reference, it’s a very nice chrome book, came as it was supposed to, boxed and appeared new, no signs of prior use or handling.

A great Chromebook, with few downsides. – I’m not completely new to Chromebooks, my Children both use them for school and I’ve messed around with them off and on for a couple of years. Recently my 10 year old Macbook’s battery finally gave up and I found myself in the market for a new laptop.

– I bought this model partly because of the amazing reviews it got from multiple tech sources. Once I got it set up, I was looking forward to redeeming the perk which supposedly all Chromebooks get. 100GB of free Google Drive space for 2 years. The redemption process did not succeed, the error message claiming that my device didn’t qualify. I knew this probably wasn’t true, so I contacted Google, but not before trying everything their troubleshooting documents online suggested. Nothing worked.
