Beelink was a surprise for my real-time applications – Purchased the Beelink Mini S as a lightning deal. Price was under $200 and I thought I would use it for a general internet access PC. Surprisingly, I tested the DPC latency and found that when running Windows 11 Pro I could use it for my amateur radio SDR applications which require real-time performance. The dual HDMI ports allow for multiple monitors which is another feature I needed. For my applications I need to add a powered USB hub, since I use10+ USB connected devices. Power usage is far less than the desktop PC it replaced and the footprint amazingly small. This little PC was a huge surprise on how well it worked. Would definitely recommend it. But definitely check out the various configuration so you match it for yours needs.

UPDATE: Failed after 3 months. – UPDATE #2: Tech did get in touch with me after about 5 days. From there, the replies were intermittent. I’d say it took about 1.5 weeks from when I initially reached out until they agreed to send a replacement drive. It took another 2 weeks (3.5 weeks total) before I received it. The new hard drive went bad, but the ethernet port also quick working. Not a big deal since it has built-in wifi, but still. In the end they helped, but it took a while and it’s had its issues.

Cool design, not not really. – The size is great, the design is cool, it’s price appropriately. Beware though, the sata cable is hulk smashed between the drive caddy and the 2280 board. Mine came with the cable smashed in there so bad i could see the wiring, as a result, no 2.5 in drive which i needed. Returning mine, probably a decent little pc if you don’t need the 2.5 drive. Questionable design choice on that cable.

After extensive shopping, I found this system to be the most value for the money for the price-point. The person I was purchasing this for was initially skeptical but was very pleased at the unit’s features, performance and ease of setup. Their spouse is possibly also looking at getting one now.
