A good middle ground for parents and kids – I bought this as a Christmas gift for my 8 year old. I wanted something with parental controls already on it as I’m about as tech savvy as a dinosaur and my child is too young to run rampant on the internet (and a bit too careless yet to entrust with an expensive device). I especially like that I can automatically lock the device during bedtime so he can’t sneak it off to his room and wake up tired for school. The controls aren’t the end all to monitoring your kid on the internet, but is a huge help and something more parents should actively be doing. Kids are smarter than we give them credit for, but also far too trusting on the internet.

Worth Money – Bought two of these for my twin grandchildren. The battery life is long enough for the time they are allowed to use them, but the games that come with the product are for very young children. My grandchildren had never had any kind of iPad, etc. so they are happy with it, even though they are five years old. I see kids two years old carrying around this kind of product and for children like that, these would probably not be adequate. My other concern is there are no instructions for the games. You just have to learn how to do them by trial and error. Doesn’t seem to bother my grandkids, but drives me crazy. Also, I wanted stories that were read aloud to help them start to recognize words. The problem with the stories on this device is that the reading is very stilted, the stories are way too young, and when the story is read, the entire sentence or paragraph is highlighted, not highlighted word by word – for someone who doesn’t read yet that is a little confusing. One other note, the piece on the charger that you insert in the device to charge has a very weak end. My granddaughter’s is already bent, but it is still charging. Just be careful with the end of the charger. They do connect to the Internet however, and I plan on downloading them more advanced games and stories as they get older. All in all, for the price, I am OK with these devices. Haven’t had them long enough to know if they will hold up over time, but as long as they do, and I can connect to the Internet to get them more advanced games and stories, they are worth the money I paid.

Not bad for the money – The screen cracked when it was dropped. So the case may need to be better. Although even with the screen crack it does not interfere with the touch portion land does not scratch or hurt your fingers. My toddler watches Disney on it and it works just fine for what we use it for.
