Update to Performance of Card – Great while it worked but very expensive for only 7 months’ worth of work. I even bought a new card reader in case something was wrong with the reader, but the new one, which also takes SDHC cards, worked with the SD card but still didn’t work with the CF Express type B. Purchased on April 28, return deadline was May 29. Fortunately, it quit when I only had a couple of unimportant photos on it, so I didn’t lose anything major but could have, since I used it on a trip to Norway in June!

Good but not great – I love SanDisk and have used a ton of their cards in many cameras. Never an issue. While there is no issue with this card, according to my Blackmagic Speed Test I did on my Mac, it was the slowest of the three cards I had bought. I tested a Lexar, this SanDisk and a Delkin card. All three cards were rated about the same but not exactly the same. We all know the ratings on the cards are not real-world though. I found the Delkin and the Lexar to be very close to one another, but the SanDisk was a distance 3rd place in both read/write.

The CFExpress card feels more substantial than the SD card used by my D610 and is less clumsy to use than the CF cards used by my D3s. I like that the card is shaped so that it’s immediately obvious which way to insert them. After some practice you can tell by feel, and don’t even have to look down as you put new cards in the camera. This format is a winner and I hope it continues for a long time.

Picture quality is excellent – Not sure if its the card or the reader that gets hot when downloading (I’m an amateur not taking 1000 pictures a day but when i go hundreds yes). Never had this with xqd cards
